Is DociCA a law firm, or does it give legal advice?
No. DociCA is document-automation software, not a law firm, and it does not provide legal advice. Documents you generate are drafts for review. Every template is currently under lawyer review — do not rely on or sign a document without having a qualified lawyer review it for your situation.
What does DociCA's AI-assisted review actually do?
It is issue spotting. The review produces a plain-language issue summary and a review-priority score — not a legal opinion, risk rating, or guarantee. It can miss issues and can be wrong, so always confirm with a lawyer.
How does DociCA stop the AI from inventing legal citations?
A cited statutory quote counts only if it is a literal substring of real government statute text; the system strips any quote or citation it cannot verify. Statutes are referenced from a curated registry resolved against authoritative sources (federal Justice Laws, Alberta King's Printer, Ontario e-Laws), so the model does not invent citation URLs. Where no source can be confirmed, a finding is presented as general explanation with no asserted law.
Which provinces and documents does DociCA cover?
During the invite-only beta, DociCA supports Ontario and Alberta plus selected federal and general documents. Higher-risk documents (for example wills, powers of attorney, family-law and shareholder agreements, and land or registry documents) may be preview-only or waitlisted while they undergo review.
Does DociCA use my documents to train AI models?
No. We do not use your documents or uploaded files to train AI models.
Does the AI review send my document to a third-party AI provider?
No. The AI review runs on a self-hosted model rather than a third-party AI provider. For the current, authoritative description of where your data is stored and processed, please see our Privacy Policy.
Where is my document stored and processed?
Document content and the AI review of it are processed and stored in Canada, on infrastructure we operate in Québec, and the review runs on a self-hosted model rather than a third-party AI service. That is scoped to the document path — it is not a claim that every operational vendor we use is Canadian. Transactional email, for example, is handled by a processor in the United States, and it never receives document content. Every processor is listed with its region and data class on our Subprocessors page.
Can I sign documents with DociCA during the beta?
No. E-signature, paid plans, lawyer review for purchase, and insurance-backed guarantees are not active during the beta.
